I love scraps. I mean, I know working with scraps is great because sustainability and reducing waste and all (and I have hella scrap project ideas for anyone that needs some...I'll post a few), but for me, I also love them because they make me work outside of my comfort zone.
How's that? Mainly because most of my scraps don't come from me. I'm a scrap collector. I love other people's scraps. My cousin and I trade scraps through the mail. They are typically colors and patterns and combinations that I would never choose for myself so they fascinate me. Going through someone else's scraps is like opening birthday presents -- each one is a little surprise. And even if one doesn't immediately appeal to me, it may turn out to be exactly the right thing for a later project. This is the first of a little series on scraps.
I recently acquired a PILE of scraps which was an absolute joy to sift through :). The person from whom they came had been a quilter, so there were also quite a number of quilt blocks and quilt block pieces. I do not have the attention span to make an entire quilt, so I figured I would add them to my scrap collection and see what happened. It was this:
They were fun :). Next time: a low investment experiment with mixed results.
