Sashiko Basics
Sashiko (“little stab”) is a form of Japanese hand stitching that creates lovely motifs and repeating patterns using a simple running stitch. Originally used for stitching together multiple layers of fabric for warmth and for repairing worn clothing, sashiko has developed into a beautiful decorative technique that is now used to embellish everything
from bags to jackets and even shoes.
In this course, students will learn the basics of sashiko, including running stitch technique, how to start and stop new thread, and approaches to creating their own motifs.

Beginning Quilting
Curious about quilting but not sure where to start? This hands-on beginning quilting class introduces the fundamentals of quilting by making a mini quilt using a single quilt block—a perfect, low-pressure way to learn the full process from start to finish. Students will learn how to safely and accurately cut fabric using a rotary cutter, assemble a quilt block, layer the quilt sandwich (top, batting, and backing), quilt the layers together, and finish with binding. Ideal for confident beginners who are comfortable using a sewing machine and want to explore quilting basics.
